here she is!!!

This is the newest addition to the Weaver household. Her name is Callaway (Don needed to have a golf name) and we call her Callie for short. She is a black lab. We will be picking her up next week after I get back from our EDGE Youth Ministry missions trip. We are all so excited to get her - even the boys who pretty much hate dogs. They both - and I - fell in love with her when we met her. It's going to be a big change for us, but a great change. We welcome any advice from you dog owners - especially if you have a lab. We're obviously very new to this. Also feel free to come over and meet her. We definitely want to expose her to lots of people. Check back later for more updates on our new little girl.

tagged

Kimmy tagged me, so now it's my turn to tag people. Follow the rules below if you want to play.

rules to play:
1. players start with 8 random facts about themselves.2. those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.3. players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.

Here are my 8 facts:
1) I have been to Disney World over 20 times.
2) I am an insane roller coaster fan
3) I have never broken a bone
4) I used to play violin and our high school orchestra played in Orchestra Hall every year
5) When I was little, my friend and I put her brother in the dryer and turned it on. He deserved it b/c he kept hitting us with his plastic baseball bat, but we got in huge trouble
6) I'm a little bit of a pyromaniac and when I was little I set our plastic garbage can on fire. My sister actually got in trouble b/c she was supposed to be watching me.
7) I spent a month in France after high school with 14 other students and our very, very, very odd french teacher. While we were there I almost drowned in the Mediterranean Sea.
8) I absolutely love jigsaw puzzles. Once I start working on one, I become practically consumed by it. That's why I rarely do them, however, I have finished a 1000 piece puzzle in 1 day.

o.k., you're it!!

the last year in a sentence

O.k., I see that I have not posted in over a year. My lame excuse is that I've created a myspace and a facebook account and have neglected this one. That is going to change now - hopefully. The latest in a nutshell: We went camping for the first time as a family with the cub scouts in June; I took a job at the school as a paraprofessional, but will not be doing it again next year; I became part of a band (playing bass guitar) called Owen Sound; Don and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary in October with a trip to South Carolina (best food EVER!!!); Graham was in his very first piano recital in November (see pic); I joined Bible Study Fellowship in November and will be a discussion group leader in it next year; I went to Florida to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday in March; I made a trip out east in April to for a Ladies' Retreat with the ladies from our former church in Delaware; and the boys very successfully completed another year in school (or they will have on Friday). That's all I'm going to write right now, but I will try to post some more pics very soon. Love you all!!

myspace and sudoko

o.k., so my procrastination week turned into a month. what can i say? i procrastinated!!

anyhow, i finally joined the world of myspace. i will still post on this blog, but you should also check out my site at http://www.myspace.com/64373820.

i also want to say that i am - without question - completely and utterly addicted to Sudoku. For those of you that may not have heard of this recent phenomenon, it's a puzzle where you fill all empty squares so that the numbers 1 to 9 appear once in each row, column and 3x3 box. There are also variations on this theme. i'm currently working on one where you not only fill in the numbers 1-9, but also the letters A-F and O.

There is a great website for sudoku puzzles: www.dailysudoku.com. Does anyone know of any other good ones? because, as i said, i am addicted!!!!!!!!!!!

New Baby!

We have a new baby in the Weaver house - an H3. Unfortunately, I just now remembered that I needed to take a picture and update my blog, so it's not a great picture. I'll have to try to remember to add some more pics later.

Isn't she beautiful?!?! Hey Todd, we can go off-roading together, now! But I'll let Don do the driving.

No Dog!

For those of you who didn't know, we were considering getting a dog last month. There was a family at church who needed to get rid of their 2 year old Springer Spaniel. He was already housetrained, so we thought this would be a great opportunity for us. Don picked him up last Thursday and he went home Friday after biting Graham. The good news is that Graham wasn't too badly hurt and doesn't seem to have regained his fear of dogs. I think he is still open to getting a dog sometime in the future. Also, now we don't have to wonder if we made the right decision. Biting our child is a pretty definite decision-maker, I'm thinking.

Anyway, since we now have lots more time to do research, I welcome any recommendations on what dogs to get or not to get in the future.

Sorry it didn't work out, Todd. I thought it would have been cool to have a dog named Snuffy. Maybe we'll name the future one Snuffy for you. :-)
